Before this goes live

This notice is accurate about how the system works, but the registered entity details, the Information Officer's name and the final retention periods still need to be confirmed and signed off. They are marked in the text.

Who we are

[REGISTERED NAME TO BE CONFIRMED] trading as Wash Dry Deliver, De Drift Mall, Velddrif, West Coast, Western Cape. We are the responsible party for the personal information described here.

Information Officer: [NAME AND CONTACT TO BE CONFIRMED]. Under POPIA every responsible party must register an Information Officer with the Information Regulator.

What we collect, and why

When you send an enquiry
Your name, the business name if you give one, your email address or mobile number, the address we are collecting from, and what you tell us about the job. We need this to reply to you and to do the work.
When we do your laundry
A record of each order, its weight and contents count, what you paid and how. Trade accounts also have a rate card and an invoice history.
When we deliver
The delivery address, any access notes you give us, and sometimes a photograph of where we left the bags. The photograph exists to settle a question about a delivery, and shows the doorstep or gate, not the inside of your home.
Technical information
When you submit a form we briefly keep the IP address and browser the submission came from, so we can spot automated abuse. This is deleted after 90 days and is never used to profile you. This website sets no advertising or analytics cookies and loads no third-party trackers — the typefaces are served from our own server, not from Google.

Consent, and how to withdraw it

We only send you marketing if you have ticked the box asking us to, and we record when you did. You can withdraw that consent at any time by replying to any message, or by telling us at the counter — we will stop, and we will keep a note that you asked us to.

Messages about a job you have actually given us — that your laundry is ready, or on the van — are part of providing the service rather than marketing.

Who else sees it

We do not sell your information. It is shared only with:

  • our messaging provider, when we send you a WhatsApp, SMS or email about your order;
  • our bank and card acquirer, when you pay;
  • our accountant and auditors, where the law requires records to be kept;
  • a law enforcement or regulatory body, where we are legally obliged to.

Our systems run on servers in [HOSTING REGION TO BE CONFIRMED]. If personal information is processed outside South Africa, it is only with providers that offer protection comparable to POPIA.

How long we keep it

  • Financial and tax records: five years, as SARS requires.
  • Customer and order records: for as long as you are a customer, then [PERIOD TO BE CONFIRMED].
  • Enquiries that do not become orders: [PERIOD TO BE CONFIRMED].
  • Delivery photographs: [PERIOD TO BE CONFIRMED].
  • Form submission IP addresses and browser details: 90 days.

Your rights

Under POPIA you may:

  • ask what personal information we hold about you, and get a copy;
  • ask us to correct anything that is wrong or out of date;
  • ask us to delete information we no longer have a reason to keep;
  • object to us processing your information in a particular way;
  • withdraw your consent to marketing at any time;
  • complain to the Information Regulator.

Ask us in the shop, or use the contact form. We will answer within 30 days. Where the law requires us to keep a record — a tax invoice, for instance — we will tell you which parts we cannot delete and why.

The Information Regulator of South Africa can be reached at inforegulator.org.za.

Keeping it safe

Everything travels over an encrypted connection. Access to customer records is limited to staff whose job needs it, and every change is recorded against the person who made it. Staff ID numbers and banking details are held for payroll only and are never exposed through the website or the customer portal. We take daily backups.

Changes

If we change how we handle your information we will update this page and change the date at the top. If the change is significant we will tell you directly.
